Our Comanche Queen cheese will now be known as “High Lawn Queen”
Since we began designing our farmstead cheese collection a few years ago, we set out to name each one after something or someone significant to High Lawn Farm.
The name Wilde Field pays homage to “The Mother of High Lawn,” Marjorie Wilde, whose maiden name was Field. Pasto Alto is “High Lawn” in Spanish, a nod to the Latin influence our farm has known over the last nearly 100-years. And our Siegfried’s Pride, Quintessa’s [Italian Cheddar], and Comanche Queen are each named after either an award-winning High Lawn Sire Bull or Heifer.
It is always our most sincere intention to ensure that as a farm and as a brand we are thoughtful and respectful in all of our practices and endeavors. Though we chose the name Comanche Queen as a tribute to our prized Heifer by that name, we are also aware that The Comanche are firstly a Native-American nation.
So in an effort to honor that heritage, we have decided to change the name of our previously known Comanche Queen cheese to High Lawn Queen.
Same delicious soft-ripened cheese, just with a new name.
The recipe for this young, bloomy-rind cheese will not be changing, only the name. So when you see High Lawn Queen on the shelves of your favorite retailer, rest assured that that same buttery, tangy flavor and texture that you, our valued customer, have grown to know and love will still be present.

ABOUT HIGH LAWN QUEEN
When young, the interior of this cheese has the texture of soft butter and a sharp tang. The rind has yeasty, fresh dough notes. As this bloomy cheese ages, the interior texture matures into creamy, melted cheese and the rind takes on a hint of mushroom.
Aged 3-4 weeks.
